Sports World Reacts To The Colin Kaepernick Announcement

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is intervening to provide the closure that LaShawn Thompson's family has been seeking since September 2022.

Thompson, 35, passed away in a jail cell in Fulton County. His family feels that he died as a result of the appalling conditions at the facility.

Attorneys for the Thompson family assert that he was "eaten alive" by bugs and insects while incarcerated.

The Thompson family wasn't given the answers it was seeking for by the medical examiner's initial autopsy. Kaepernick will cover the cost of an impartial autopsy because of this.

The majority of the sports community is praising Kaepernick for this action.

One of the Thompson family's representatives, Ben Crump, had nothing but positive things to say about Kaepernick.

According to Crump, via CBS, "We want to thank Colin Kaepernick for helping this family find the truth.

As soon as we learn the findings of that independent autopsy, we'll be back here to inform everyone of what happened to him.

Kaepernick is not unfamiliar with this. Through his Know Your Rights Camp organization, he started a program last year to assist families in receiving free secondary autopsy.
