New Mexico state police say collision killed multiple persons.

Authorities claimed a Saturday afternoon New Mexico single-vehicle crash killed multiple persons.

The crash on Interstate 25 near Hatch killed unknown numbers.

"Police can confirm that there was a single vehicle accident with multiple fatalities involving undocumented individuals,

" New Mexico State Police spokeswoman Wilson Silver said.

Silver said an accident reconstruction team investigated Saturday night.

NBC station KTSM of Albuquerque reported that the highway reopened in the 

evening after the incident closed it in both directions.

There are Border Patrol checkpoints nearby. Saturday night, U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokespersons did not respond.
