According to a coroner's report released on Tuesday, singer and rapper Aaron Carter perished in his bathtub after ingesting sedatives and inhaling the gas from spray cleaners.
Carter, the younger sibling of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, was discovered submerged and dead in the bathtub of his Lancaster,
California, home on November 5, according to an autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.
According to the autopsy report, sheriff's deputies were the last persons to see Carter alive when they visited his home at 2 a.m. on
November 4 for a welfare check after he was seen and heard "huffing" an inhalant on an Instagram live video.
He requested that the deputies depart, and they complied. The autopsy revealed the presence of the sedative alprazolam,
commonly sold under the brand name Xanax, as well as the compressed gas difluoroethane,
which the report describes as a "commonly used propellant in air spray cleaners" that "can induce euphoric feelings when inhaled."
